Coatings and the ACE market

Beckers has supplied coatings for agricultural and construction equipment (“ACE”) manufacturers for generations. Early paints were usually alkyd-based, little different from household gloss paints.

Over the last two decades, manufacturers have sought to reduce costs by painting parts before assembly, whilst improving durability. These factors coupled with pressure for environmental improvement, has led to greater use of water borne paints, high solids paints and — where component size allows — powder coatings. New resin systems, such as polyurethane, have also improved durability.

This wider choice of coatings means that it is important to work with a coatings supplier who can help select the best choice of coating system and supply the full range of technologies, in both liquid and powder.

After all, visual appearance is key at first sale and subsequent re-sale — key moments of opportunity for OEM and customer alike.

While the coatings scene has been changing, ACE manufacturers have been consolidating into larger, often multinational groups.

This multinational spread means that it is important to work with a coatings supplier who can supply OEMs and their subcontractors with consistent coatings wherever they are located.

New technologies and new industrial structures offer new opportunities for competitive advantage. Beckers’ ACE coatings business is working in partnership with OEMs around the world to develop their competitive advantage.
