Becker Powłoki Przemysłowe (BIC Poland) starts work on new factory
Becker Powłoki Przemysłowe celebrated the start of the construction of their new factory at Tarnów, southern Poland with a traditional ceremony. A certificate was signed for the local community by the Mayor of Tarnów, Mr Mieczysław Bien, and representatives of local voivodship. It was then signed for Beckers by Dr Ralph Kabalo, President, Becker Industrial Coatings, Dr Michael Hintze, President — Central and Eastern Europe, Becker Industrial Coatings, Mr Hĺkan Franzén, Managing Director of BIC AB, Sweden and Aleksander Sasim, Managing Director, Becker Powłoki Przemysłowe. After the signing it was sealed in a metal canister and embedded in the foundations of the new building.
Becker Powłoki Przemysłowe was formed in April 2000 to serve the Polish coil and special markets. Located in Warsaw, the company up till now has been organised primarily as a distribution centre combined with a technical & application laboratory. It is also capable of modifying and testing paints for plastics and metal to satisfy customers’ specific needs. Most bulk production took place in Sweden. With the growth of the company in the expanding Polish economy, local production has now become essential.
The new 2000 m.sq. factory was started in October 2005 and is expected to be commissioned from October 2006, working up to full production by December 2006. It is expected to employ 25 staff, many of whom will be recruited locally. The value of investment will be some 18 million PLN.
The reasons for locating the new factory in Tarnów were explained by Aleksander Sasim, "The new plant will be conveniently sited for servicing our growing markets in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Ukraine. Besides, Tarnów municipality and the Management of Tarnow Special Economic Zone showed real interest and provided a lot of support in attracting Beckers to invest in the town."

A sister Polish company, Becker Farby Proszkowe, is situated in Debica and manufactures powder coatings.
