BeckryTherm technology — a fresh approach
To take a fresh look at the problem, Beckers turned first to the leaf.
Why is the shade under a tree particularly cool?
Why do the leaves of trees not bake in the sun?
As the chart shows, a leaf absorbs where necessary in the UV and visible spectrum. However, in the near infrared, the leaf’s reflectance shoots up, particularly in areas of the spectrum with high solar irradiation. This allows the leaf, despite its dark green colour, to reflect most of the 50% of solar radiation that falls as infrared and keep cool.
A standard dark green coating is not very reflective anywhere—but a BeckryTherm dark green coating beats even the leaf!
BeckryTherm’s outstanding thermal control means outstanding savings in air conditioning costs! These will vary according to roof colour and geographical area, but typically the modest extra cost of BeckryTherm (compared with a standard coating) in a southern U.S. or south east Asian location may be expected to pay for itself in less than 6 months.
